Dr Ainslie Meares (1910-1986)
Dr Ainslie Meares was an eminent Australian psychiatrist, internationally recognised medical hypnotist, healer and meditation teacher. He introduced the formal practice we now call Stillness Meditation to the world. In doing so he also introduced mind-body medicine to the west in the 1960s. Stillness Meditation is a form of homeostasis - the mind's ability to self heal which also influences the body. Because it is a natural function, when correctly taught and correctly practiced it can be learnt by everyone. You already have the ability, it is a matter of reawakening or re-learning that which lies under utilised or dormant within you.
