Healing
I offer several healing pathways:
What to expect
Stillness Meditation Touch Therapy, Reiki and Therapeutic Touch have quite a bit in common yet, there are differences. So, only a general description is possible. Sessions consist of:
An informal chat.
A short meditation.
Therapy fully clothed, laying down, or sitting. A blanket may be placed over clothes.
Touch depends on modality, client background & adjustments. It may include the following:-
Moving (hovercraft like) hands passing a few inches away from body.
Very gentle brushing of limbs a few times.
Hands placed on head, torso and limbs at tension centres (aka energy centres). A sequence or selected centres may be used.
Any adjustments agreed at the start chat. Adjustments may be requested at any time.
Rest to allow the experience to fully develop.
Another chat after waking up.
Chats, therapy & rest take an hour. This is a simplified summary. During chats, clients are encouraged to ask any questions. Yet, the benefits only come from the experience... it is only doing that really counts in this area.
The client experience
This is a good point to mention that Reiki and Therapeutic Touch describe the experience in terms of beneficial changes in energy flow. Whereas Stillness Meditation Touch Therapy describes it in terms of relaxation, reduced tension, reduced anxiety and so on. This is not the place to discuss cause and effect. But, one key point is that reductions in anxiety, tension, fear and pain generally result in feelings of rest, restoration, freeing up and energy. You might say they are reverse sides of the same coin.
How a person approaches new experiences is relevant. Generally, client's feel relaxed and calm. Some clients say they feel sleepy, in a meditative state or tranquil. Individual responses vary. Some say they feel only a bit relaxed, but often report changes later on. A few may experience some discomfort, this usually settles or disappears over time. Reiki, some Therapeutic Touch practitioners and those of other modalities describe reactions similar to these as "healing reactions". Also, it is known that benefits occur for those who do not notice any reaction themselves, although beneficial changes may be seen by the therapist. For example, a person may be much more relaxed after a session.
