Stillness Meditation powered Touch Therapy

Mental Ataraxis is the end state of Meares' Stillness Meditation. In Mental Ataraxis there is an absence of disturbance as the mind is still. Mental Ataraxis is also called equanimity or similar names. Additions to Stillness prevent it from happeningThis is obvious but seems hard for many people to understand. Stillness can be learnt. Reading helps understand it but only experience will allow it to happen.

Some people have attempted to add to what they call "stillness meditation" and have confused their clients and students.   They teach an endpoint that can't be Mental Ataraxis, as such. This is as simple as appreciating that if the mind has mental activity from sensing, feeling or thinking then it can't be completely still

While growing up Owen played with several meditation systems. Several had a "sound-body" fitness or martial component. They offered a range of meditative and fitness experiences. These experiences occurred  before he saw Ainslie Meares in 1984 who taught him Stillness Meditation. Meares proposed a unified theory for meditation, hypnosis & healing states. He verified his theory by interactions with major systems world wide.

After Owen wrote and published his 5th book, Ainslie Meares on Teaching Meditation , he realised that similar applied research might enhance his own understanding of Meares' work. He has since interacted with certain carefully selected methods.  Owen returned to become a student of Reiki, Therapeutic Touch and other systems. This applied research has allowed Owen to rediscover some lesser known aspects of Dr Meares' work.

Owen has integrated highly selected elements into what he calls Stillness Meditation Touch Therapy without removing the Stillness, as such. Stillness Meditation Touch Therapy is very much in the Meares' tradition.

Owen also offers Reiki Touch Therapy and Therapeutic Touch as separate healing pathways for those who feel an affinity or preference for one of those paths.  Meares used to say that it is only doing that counts  Those who take one step down the path will find the next step easier when they choose to take it.
