Therapeutic Touch

Therapeutic Touch was developed in the 1970s by Dolores Krieger (a nurse) and Dora Kunz (an expert healer). Today, TT is practiced in about 90 countries by more than 100,000+ practitioners all over the world.

Therapeutic Touch practitioners center, assess and re-balance the flow of the client's energy field.  During and after the re-balancing there is further assessment (strictly speaking referred to as evaluation). The touch treatment process is finished by grounding the client, who then rests for a few minutes. This period of rest is just as important as the earlier stages as it allows the treatment experience to fully develop.  Other aspects of the TT process include reflection by the TT practitioner on the treatment and client experience to continuously improve benefits for the next client experience.

The methods of Dora Kunz have a long and complicated history that traced back far enough share some common roots from which with the method of the late Dr Ainslie Meares also evolved. It should be noted that Dr Meares' method and Therapeutic Touch both developed completely independently of one another. It is only in the last 5 years or so that a couple of Meares' method teachers have learnt TT (one of them learnt vice versa). Owen is a member of the Therapeutic Touch Association of Australia.

A general summary of what to expect during Therapeutic Touch is provided on the Healing page.
